BREAKING NEWS--GRACE POE disqualifies by Comelec division from 2016 Presidential race

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has disqualified Senator Grace Poe from the 2016 presidential race for not meeting the residency requirement of the Constitution for presidential candidates.

Comelec second division voted 3-0 in favor of the petition filed by lawyer Estrella Elamparo, who is seeking the cancellation of Poe's certificate of candidacy for president.

The members of the division are Commissioners Al ParreƱo, Arthur Lim, and Sheriff Abas.
Poe's running mate, Sen. Francis Escudero, confirmed that she was disqualified by the Comelec second division, saying he received the information 10 minutes ago, but did not provide additional details.

According to Elamparo, Poe failed to meet the 10-year residency requirement mandated by the Constitution for a presidential candidate.

The Comelec division said Poe became a resident only on July 2006 when she applied for dual citizenship. It said this would make her two months short of meeting the 10-year residency rule.

Meanwhile, Poe's lawyers insisted that she became a resident in May 2005.

Poe's camp said they will appeal the decision with the Comelec en banc.

Elamparo's petition was just one of the four petitions seeking to disqualify Poe from the presidential race.

VIRAL: Cardiologist shares 'worst experience at Cagayan De Oro Cebu Pacific Air

New viral Facebook post of Dr. J-gen Dela Cerna, a pediatric cardiologist, now making wave on social media what she calls her 'worst experience at Cagayan De Oro Cebu Pacific.'

The post on her timeline is dated September 27, Sunday, but the incident happened last Saturday, September 26.

Due to the sensitivity of the issue, the screenshot is shown.

Original text from her post reads:

"WORST EXPERIENCE AT CDO CEBU PACIFIC
I accompanied a 6 day old baby with a congenital heart disease for an emergent cardiac surgery to Manila yesterday. We needed to fly commercial since the ambulance plane cost almost half a million. The baby was hooked to an oxygen and IVF on our way to the airport. We left the hospital at 4AM to catch the 6:30AM flight. When we were about to board the plane, the crew of Cebu Pacific told us that we can not bring an oxygen cylinder inside the plane and replace it with an electric oxygen concentrator. The father complained that he was just advised to bring a portable O2 so naturally he bought the 7K portable cylinder. But since the father wanted so much to bring his child to Manila for surgery, he went back to the hospital in CDO (which was a 1 hour ride) to look for the electric oxygen concentrator. We were waiting at the breastfeeding room when the plane already left. The next flight was at 9 AM so I thought, the father will arrive in the airport just in time for the 2nd flight. The father came with the oxygen concentrator relieved that we are finally going to Manila. When we tried to plug in the device in the aircraft, the outlet was 120V! The father was so disappointed that no one in the crew told him that the outlet was 120V. I asked the crew if we can use their emergency O2 tank inside the plane instead. But the crew told us that the cylinder tank was ONLY for emergency! I blurted, isn't this considered an emergency?! The baby needs O2 during the flight. They told us that it is only used in emergency during the flight and not when the plane is still on the ground! So again, we weren't able to board the plane. The father was advised to look for a transformer. Again, we waited patiently at the breastfeeding room until the father can provide the transformer. It has been more than 6 hrs and we ran out already of portable oxygen, thus we were already using the electric oxygen concentrator at the breastfeeding room. We also ran out of breastmilk for the baby. Good thing a female cebu pacific crew donated breastmilk. At last, the father had the transformer! We were all ready to board the plane. But when they asked permission from the captain, they wouldn't allow us to board the plane since the baby is only 6 days old, plus they wont allow us to bring the transformer! The 3rd plane flew without us! We were all exahausted and disappointed. I, the nurse and the father pleaded to the assistant supervisor to let us ride the plane but to no avail. I asked them to elevate this to their boss since I can not allow my patient to stay in CDO, wait and die without the chance of having a surgery. The father was crying because he gave in to all their demands but was refused to fly. The 4th plane came at 3PM. Finally, the Cebu Pacific Doctor in Manila allowed us to fly the plane but without the oxygen! We decided to just board the plane even WITHOUT oxygen since we were too desperate to give the baby a chance to have the surgery. I told the crew that we will definitely need their emergency O2 tank when we are on air. We prayed for the baby to be ok while waiting inside the plane without O2. We arrived in Manila at 5PM after greater than 10 hours of sweat, tears, exasperation and disappointment. NEVER AGAIN flying with the same airline."

As of Monday 1:00 pm, its now shared 3281 and expected to become more controversial as time goes by.

Cebu Pacific has yet to release a statement regarding the incident.

Truth Revealed Behind Viral Cebu Pacific Body Weight Counter on Passengers Weighing Over 60 kilos to Pay or Not to Pay!

For a those people who were non-fliers should raise this question on a viral photo circulating in Facebook which a man seen on Cebu Pacific body weight counter whether if weighing over 60 kilos to pay for excess or not? If you don't really read through an article or notice you will say a protest or maybe write hilarious comments.

From Ian Huerbana

But the Cebu Pacific body weight counter isn't unusual for those who travel a lot.

Facebook comment's from Emmanuel Agcopra urged everyone to chill because it's free of charge.

Another comment from Doneza Maguale Quinco, a frequent flier, has these to say:

"This weigh-in is for "turbo-prop ATR" planes.. duh... they weigh people too b/c its just a small aircraft... experienced this for flights cdo-cebu..manila-mindoro... ATR stands for " Avions de Transport Regional (ATR)" its naturaly used when its like a close travel by air .. a kilo in the airport cost much. so before you complain with excess baggage.. mind weighing your baggage at home or elsewhere if you wanna avoid paying that bill."

Cebu Pacific in a press release said flights using ATR or turbo-prop aircraft also include those bound for Caticlan (Boracay), Naga, Busuanga (Coron), Siargao and Camiguin.

Cebu Pacific clearly explained on their website:

"Those traveling on ATR or turbo-prop aircraft flights are required to proceed to the body weighing counter first, before receiving their boarding pass or dropping their bags, to comply with weight and balance limitations in select airports."

Moreover, each passenger is allowed one carry-on or cabin baggage, with a maximum weight of 7 kilograms. Maximum allowed dimensions are 56cm x 36cm x 23cm for Airbus flights and 56cm x 35cm x 20cm for ATR flights.

Now we know that this is normal for ATR flights and we should read before giving any comment! Share if you care!

MANILA -- The Bureau of Customs (BOC) will no longer randomly open balikbayan boxes, the bureau announced Monday night after President Benigno Aquino III has given instructions for the Bureau of Customs to stop the physical inspections of balikbayan boxes unless X-ray and K-9 examinations give rise to suspicions that they contain prohibited items.

The decision was made after President Aquino met with Customs chief Alberto Lina and Cesar Purisima monday night.

According to bureau Pnoy emphasized that OFW families view the balikbayan box as an integral part of the family relationship to nurture loved ones at home and as a tangible sign of their love and concern for their family members.

To prevent tampering or theft of the content of balikbayan boxes, Pnoy ordered the Bureau of Customs to immediately that Only in cases where there are derogatory findings from the x-ray or K-9 examination will there be a physical inspection of goods.

Pnoy also said that it should request that an Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) representative or a designated officer of an OFW Association be present with provisions for CCTV monitoring of the inspection areas.

The BOC warned that government employees who violate these protocols and steal from care packages will face criminal charges.

"We encourage the public to submit videos and photographic evidence of illegal acts to the Commissioner of Customs," it said.

VIRAL: OFW Delivered Message on Customs Tigher Rules on Balikbayan Boxes

MANILA -- The Bureau of Customs said yesterday it may impose tougher measures on balikbayan boxes for fear that these tax-free packages are being used by traders to smuggle goods into the country.

"The existing rules are obsolete, and we may have to reassess our coordination and processes with consolidators for stricter and improved compliance," Customs Commissioner Bert Lina said, referring to a Customs Memorandum Order for consolidated shipments from Filipinos abroad dating in the 1990s.

“Our spot checks from several warehouses show how misconstrued the rules may have become. People are sending in used clothing, home appliances and items of the same kind that can well be used for commercial purposes,” he said.

However, it should always be noted that these packages have limitations, such as contents not exceeding $500 in value, Lina said.

“Canned goods, grocery items and other household effects must not exceed a dozen a kind, while apparel whether used or new must not exceed three yards per cut,” Lina said.

He added that one consignment per sender during a one-month period is allowed.

The Philippines is the recipient of some 400,000 balikbayan boxes every month, a number that doubles as the Christmas season nears.

Meanwhile, OFW's worldwide air's their anger about this new rules as this will remove their privacy on their own balikbayan boxes.

Many of them used social media to send message to our Bureau of Customs (BOC) which now all trending as many ofw's gives sympathy.

Mainland China -- A Cebu Pacific male flight attendant has been accused of stealing money from passengers. His fellow crew members allegedly covered up the crime.

"This was a male flight attendant of Cebu Pacific Air Flight 5J52 from Boracay to Mainland China early this week. He allegedly stole the money of several passengers on board and was caught red handed by the passengers.

Although he was able to flush dozens of pieces of RMB¥100 bills down the toilet, airport policemen were still able to recover damp RMB bills from the garbage bin in the lavatory.
The whole crew were said to have conspired to committing the crime because other flight attendants and the air marshall were covering the suspect when he rushed to the toilet trying to destroy all evidences.

The handwritten Chinese letter was the testimony of the passengers."

These photo's of alleged suspect and passenger's testimony which written in Chinese were also published in China Sina Weibo as you can see on the photo's description.

In a statement on Thursday reported by Abs-Cbn News, Atty. Paterno Mantaring Jr., officer-in-charge for corporate affairs of Cebu Pacific, said they have have been made aware of the alleged incident of theft.

"CEB is conducting a thorough investigation in parallel with an independent, third party investigating body on this alleged incident," Mantaring said.

He added also that " CEB will take the appropriate action, depending on the result of the investigation".

As part of the CEB procedure, all cabin crew members of the flight have been placed on paid leave and a non-flying status, pending the investigation.

The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) nonetheless believes this is an isolated incident and that Filipino crew can still be trusted.

Cebu City -- A Concerned Citizen by the name of Grace Gamallo Semilla has warned lady drivers of the latest modus operandi of robbers operating in the business district of the City.

She posted her experienced on Facebook which now gone viral with over 100 thousand shares. Her post reads:

"A WARNING TO ALL LADY DRIVERS...At noontime today, while i was maneuvering in a narrow street at the exit of Metrobank ,Lahug a decent looking man knocked on my window and told me that something fell from the back of the car.

Looking at him,i remembered (praise God!) the news a few days ago about the new modus operandi of robbers. I tried to ignore him ,then another man ( his cohort for sure! ) who was at the other side of the car intentionally tried to block the way to tell me the same thing.

My instinct told me to flee and so i sped off! When i got to my destination, i found these 1 peso coins (21 pcs in all) carefully "planted" at the back of the car.

No wonder that they are called the Laglag Barya Gang.. the moment you go down to check and get the coins/keys,etc "falling" from your car, an accomplice would enter your car from the opposite side to grab your bag/belongings.

Again, pls,pls be aware of this modus operandi so that no one will become a victim to it."

Most of Facebook friends comments praised her for the presence of mind, quick thinking, and being alert.

The History of Father’s Day

First day of Fathers Day
There are two stories of when the first Father’s Day was celebrated. According to some accounts, the first Father’s Day was celebrated in Washington state on June 19, 1910. A woman by the name of Sonora Smart Dodd came up with the idea of honoring and celebrating her father while listening to a Mother’s Day sermon at church in 1909. She felt as though mothers were getting all the acclaim while fathers were equally deserving of a day of praise (She would probably be displeased that Mother’s Day still gets the lion’s share of attention).

Sonora Smart Dodd
Sonora’s dad was quite a man. William Smart, a veteran of the Civil War, was left a widower when his wife died while giving birth to their sixth child. He went on to raise the six children by himself on their small farm in Washington. To show her appreciation for all the hard work and love William gave to her and her siblings, Sonora thought there should be a day to pay homage to him and other dads like him. She initially suggested June 5th, the anniversary of her father’s death to be the designated day to celebrate Father’s Day, but due to some bad planning, the celebration in Spokane, Washington was deferred to the third Sunday in June.

The other story of the first Father’s Day in America happened all the way on the other side of the country in Fairmont, West Virginia on July 5, 1908. Grace Golden Clayton suggested to the minister of the local Methodist church that they hold services to celebrate fathers after a deadly mine explosion killed 361 men.

While Father’s Day was celebrated locally in several communities across the country, unofficial support to make the celebration a national holiday began almost immediately. William Jennings Bryant was one of its staunchest proponents. In 1924, President Calvin “Silent Cal” Coolidge recommended that Father’s Day become a national holiday. But no official action was taken.

In 1966, Lyndon B. Johnson, through an executive order, designated the third Sunday in June as the official day to celebrate Father’s Day. However, it wasn’t until 1972, during the Nixon administration, that Father’s Day was officially recognized as a national holiday.

This Father’s Day, don’t just buy your Pops a crappy “World’s Best Dad” mug. Write him a card expressing some of the things you love and admire about him. Nothing mushy. Just tell him that you’re glad to be his son or daughter.

Happy Fathers Day to all father out there. Please Share if you love you Father !

STOP THE YULIN DOG MEAT EATING FESTIVAL 2015

China's southwest Yulin's dog meat "Festival," where some 10,000 dogs and cats are slaughtered and served up as meals, is often wrongly assumed to be an ancient Chinese tradition. Where man's best friends are raised for such purposes thousands of dogs and cats will suffer, be butchered, beaten to death, skinned alive and eaten.

from thunderclap
This brutal "Festival" involves what some call savouring the "delights" of dog meat hotpot and strong liquor which will increase the abduction of strays and pets and also increase the torturous and inhumane prisons of dog meat farms.

In addition, many of the dogs are stolen pets as they still have collars on.  Dogs are being stolen from their homes by being darted and drugged in the street.  Unfortunately, these poisons will find their way into the meals of the festival goers.

This 21st of June the Yulin Dog Meat Festival will take place. Time is ticking and the massive killing of dogs will soon take place, we must get our voices united and raised not just to save the lives but save the hope in humanity and to be part of a compassionate world.
